This week is a social.
East London group are meeting up tonight (Tuesday), for a meal and pub quiz at the Cuckfield pub 31 High St, Wanstead, E11 2AA. Nearest station is Snaresbrook, which is on the Central Line and there is ample parking in the streets around after 6.30pm if you are driving. Please aim to get there around 7pm if you want to eat and the quiz starts about 8pm.
Essex group will be meeting on Wednesday at the Harvester on Crown Hill, Langdon Hills at 7.30pm. Please let Rev. Jak know asap if you are coming, so she knows numbers for booking the table.
Instead of small groups this week (it being Holy Week last week), we are gathering at the George, Wanstead (directly opposite the station, which is on the Central Line), for a meal this Thursday evening (31 March). We will meet there starting around 7-7:30 pm and continue until approximately 9:30.
This Maundy Thursday (24 March), instead of our usual Seder meal, we will be watching the acclaimed screenplay Jesus, Queen of Heaven, written and performed by Jo Clifford, a Trans woman with a unique perspective on Jesus and the last supper. The film lasts for approximately an hour and then we will break bread together and have a bring and share supper while we discuss the film. The film will start at 7pm on the dot, so please arrive a little before, so as not to disturb others.
On Good Friday, we will have a Stations of the Cross service, where you can arrive any time between 6.30-8.30 and walk the stations of the cross, yourself or with others who are there. Rev. Jak Davis will be available for prayer afterwards if you wish.
On Saturday morning at 10am, we are meeting to have hot cross buns and a cup of tea for a time of prayer and reflection about what it would have been like for the disciples, that first day after Jesus had been crucified.
On Sunday we are meeting at Church at 6.30am for a Sunrise service, to celebrate the risen Christ.
On Sunday evening we will be having our usual Easter celebration service and welcoming 3 people into membership of the Church. All of the Easter events will happen at the Church in Stepney. We look forward to seeing you at some or all of the events. Have a very blessed Holy Week from all at MCCEL.
